Jan
2015

A compilation of what I think is some of the best surf photos I shot over the course of 2014. It was rather a dull year for surf photography since I didn't get to shoot much except on a few good occassions. Hopefully, 2015 should be a lot more promising with some surf travels to happen with newly acquired equipment.

With a blink of an eye 2013 went by and we are ready to embrace 2014 with redeemed hopes and aspirations, a year which should be quite monumental to country and it's people. I saw a lot of people posting on social media on how 2013 was an awesome year for them. It seems everyone enjoyed quite a bit of success. I too had a remarkable year with plenty of travels, met many interesting people, captured amazing photographs, experienced adrenaline pumping adventures and spiritually I grew as a person too. Amidst all these, learning new things was also a big part of 2013. I tried to grab every opportunity which came my way to learn new things, hone my skills and just try to give a better output in all the things I do in my life.

Surfer Frenchy Riding Giants.

Cinthol - Relish the ChallengeThere's no stylist fixing the model's hair, there is no blown lights, no heckling by the models and definitely I am not in the comfort of well equipped studios. It's just me, surfers, waves and water all around me. But there are fiberglass boards rocketing towards me at an incredible speed, the waves are constantly rolling by. Depending on the size it could be pretty intimidating at times. Well of course, I can't ignore some incredible creatures like shark, jelly fish and reefs around me and worry about getting myself shredded by them.

Trevor Getting Pitted

Cinthol - Alive is Awesome"I took off on a wave, went down the side, popped out the other end, and went, s***, I'm still ALIVE !!" - Greg Noll (on surfing Waimea Bay for the first time, 1957) There's no greater feeling than surfing and the feeling of being part of the ocean, riding a crafted board. The freedom, joy, adventure and creativity all rolled into one. The power of the wave pushing you combined with movement across, up and down the face, as you gain speed. That is the most thrilling aspect.

Surfers Path

I think surfers are the most chilled athletes and the most blessed of all other athletes in one sense. Apart from surfing epic waves around the world comes traveling, experiencing different culture, people, exotic food and an opportunity to blend into local customs and traditions. What more can you ask for ? Yet, all this comes at a cost where a surfer must be willing to leave his abode or comfort zone and travel many miles into unknown land, people, culture and almost into new horizon of bewilderment. Not just that, there is always unanticipated hurdles and hardships in pursuit of waves outside one's own home break. But where's the fun ? If everything is too perfect with no uncertainty and without any excitement of triumphing adversities.
